Am I supposed to wear hijab around my stepbrothers? Are they Mahrems for me? My dad got married about 7 years ago and his wife has 3 sons. Two of them live here now. I am just wondering because I’m not sure some people say yes and some say no.
Allahu alim and Jazakullah Khairan.
According to the Qur’an (Al-Nisa 4:23), brothers and sisters – those who have common parents or a common father or a common mother – are prohibited for marriage to each other. Thus, if the sons of your step mother are your father’s children, then they would be considered as Mehram (prohibited in marriage) for you, while if they are your step mother’s children from a previous marriage, then they would not be Mehram for you.
I hope this helps.
