I have a question about living in celibacy. Is it allowed in Shari`ah to live in this state even if one can afford to get married? I have read a saying of the holy Prophet that if a person can afford to pay the dower money, he should get married otherwise he should keep fasts.
I personally feel that I can lead a much better life alone but I can afford to pay the dower money, what should I do?
Please reply soon.
Living, the way you choose to live is your right. If you think a life of celibacy suits you more, who am I to suggest otherwise?
However, looking at a human being from an overall perspective, all that I can say is that at the right time of marriage and with no problems that may hinder in doing so, it seems natural to get married. Man, you see, needs society, and the basic unit of society is the “Home” itself. Therefore, to me it only seems wise to live a natural life. Although man, no doubt has been given the ability to go against nature to a certain extent, but generally through such diversions he harms no one but himself. Sometimes in the short run, and at others, in the long run.
