Is it a valid reason for a Christian man to convert to Islam because he falls in love with a Muslim girl? What do the two have to do?
In our present day life style, religious affiliations and ascriptions, in most cases, are merely an inherited property and a bequest for an individual, which he generally accepts and remains faithful to, till the end of his life. As a result, most people reap the social and economic benefits of this affiliation and ascription, wherever it proves to be beneficial for them and are promptly prepared to let go off this affiliation at every such point where this affiliation presents them with a hindrance in carrying out their desires.
For all such individuals to whom religious affiliations and ascriptions are a mere social formality, conversion – and, if required at a later time, re-conversion – can take place for any reason whatsoever, however insignificant it may seem to others. However, for those few to whom their religious affiliation and ascription is, in fact, indicative of their understanding, agreement and internal commitment with a ‘Truth’ which they consider more precious than anything else and which deserves to be acknowledged and accepted, the love of a woman (or of a man) or of wealth or social status is no reason to convert or even consider conversion to another religion.
I do not consider the desire to marry a person to be an adequate reason for conversion of one’s religion. Religious affiliation, in my eyes, deserves more respect, reverence and commitment than can be destabilized by mere emotional ups and downs of our life. Nevertheless, this does not mean that a person cannot convert to being a Muslim or a Christian for the purpose of being able to marry his chosen partner. On the contrary, a person can convert his religion for absolutely any reason that he considers sufficient.
As for the second part of your question, I really could not understand it. Do you mean what the two have to do for the person’s conversion or for their marriage? Nevertheless, in either case, the answer can be provided by a legal expert, who is fully aware of the legal requirements, if any, for conversion and for marriage.
I hope this helps.
