My question is that I have heard from some friends who have worked in fish n chips shops in UK, that they fry everything including fish and sausages, pork together in a big container of oil. I am firstly not sure that how much of this is true. But suppose it is true, would it be all right to eat that fish for Muslims as we consider fish halal though we buy it from English shops? or we cannot eat it until we are sure that it is fried separately? or we shouldn’t be digging it all the time to the extent of how was the fish cooked?
I don’t think it would do any harm for you to check out whether this actually happens (i.e. that halal and haram foods are cooked in the same oil etc…). If you have reason to believe that this may be so, then treading carefully is a good thing. I cannot say that cooking them in the same oil would necessarily make the halal food haram but it certainly makes it undesirable, for a person desiring to live a life of honoring God’s limits. Thus, avoidance in my opinion is the best way about it.
Living in the UK I would imagine that you will have no problems finding fish and chips shops that serve only halal foods. There are plenty of them. Therefore, stick to the safe side.
Hope this helps and please keep us in your prayers,
