Please explain the following verse from Surah Al-Qiyamah, Chapter No.75, Verse No.4 which says: "Yes we are able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers." According to the opinion of some people, this verse refers to the fingerprints that we (all human beings) have. What do you say? Regards
Does man think that We cannot gather his bones [again]? We can indeed reassemble even his very finger-tips. - Al Qiyamah 75:3-4
The above verse relates to the issue of Resurrection Day. That God can bring back the dead by reconstructing them to their very bones is a testament to that day. Not only will this restoration occur on such a grand scale but the very tiniest of elements down to the fingertips will be taken into account. The power of God to bring back humanity, from the dead, to their previous living condition will be a witness to that day. The idea that this relates to fingerprints is merely that of interpretation. One can say that the Qur'an, since it is discussing reassembling the fingertips, is obviously including the fingerprints. However, another interpretation may be that this is simply an issue of resurrection and whether the fingerprints are part of this whole phenomenon or not is a non-issue. Our understanding coincides with the latter interpretation. Even if we accept the concept of fingerprints, it would only be ancillary to the context of the verse and the entire surah (i.e. chapter) itself.
I hope I have clarified the issue.
God knows best.
