The Qur'an on the Lost City of Atlantis

Question
What does Islam say about the lost city of Atlantis?

Question from Venezuela
Answer

The lost city of Atlantis is not a historical reality but a concept that needs further empirical evidence for its proof. Qur'an has not referred to any thing related to the lost city of Atlantis.

It should be remembered that the Qur'an is not and does not claim to be an encyclopedia of human history but, on the contrary, it is a book the purpose of which is only the guidance of mankind in issues that are particularly important from the perspective of man's success in the life after death. In the course of this guidance the Qur'an has alluded to the fate of some of the nations in history who rejected the messenger of God who was sent to them and were consequently punished for their rejection, but these allusions are made only to those nations who were known to the Arabs (the direct addressees of the Qur'an). The Qur'an neither claims to nor presents an exhaustive account of all the nations that existed at different times.

Thus, as I have stated earlier, there is no reference to the "Lost city of Atlantis" in the Qur'an
