Will I be considered to engage in Riba if I accept payment by credit card, even if I didn’t pay or receive any interest in the process? As a merchant account holder I may incur a setup fee at the beginning, an annual fee like ordinary credit card holder and transaction commission for each sale. Is any of these payments Riba? Assume that the purchaser is someone who always pays interest to the credit card company because he never pays his account in full every month. Will I be considered engage in Riba if I accept credit card payment from him?
Will I be considered to engage in riba if the customer pays using a cheque from a bank, which conduct Riba business, but I deposit the cheque into an Islamic Bank or bank which do not engage in Riba transactions?
There is absolutely nothing wrong in accepting payment through credit cards or through checks (cheques).
