I
guess your question probably pertains to the Qur'an (also: Quran, Koran).
The
Qur'an, according to the Muslim belief is the final book revealed by God for
man's guidance. The Qur'an is originally in the Arabic language. According to
the Muslim belief, the Qur'an was revealed to the last prophet of God --
Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him), who was an Arab (born around
576 AD). The Muslims believe that the Qur'an is in continuation of God's
revelation to man -- parts of which may be found in the Old and the New
Testaments. According to the Muslim belief, the Qur'an has remained unaltered
since the time of its revelation and has been transmitted to the present
generation of Muslims in its original form, through the unquestionably authentic
source of verbal perpetuation of all the previous respective generations of
Muslims. In contrast to the Old and the New Testaments (which are considered to
be inspired by God and given word by men), the Qur'an, according to the Muslim
belief, is the revealed word of God.
In
combination with the Sunnah (which is a set of religious practices, taught and
perpetuated by the Prophet among his followers), the Qur'an constitutes the
basic source of Islam. It lays down the beliefs and the basic prescribed
practices for the Muslims.
In
view of its importance and significance in the Islamic faith, the Qur'an, quite
predictably, holds a venerated and a highly revered position among the followers
of the Islamic faith.
I
hope this helps.
May
the Almighty guide us all to the path of His liking.
My
fondest regards to you and those around you.
