What do the different colors in turbans mean?
The color of dress does not have any Islamic significance. The same goes for turbans. However, Muslims may have reasons to wear a specific color of dress, their reasons may even be related to their understanding of the actions of the Prophet (pbuh) – i.e. the Sunnah. Yet, according to my understanding, there is no venerated significance of any color in Islam.
Under these circumstances, I think it would be more plausible to ask the particular person who adheres to a particular color of turban/dress and avoids any other color to give his reasons for such adherence. It could easily be a matter of personal preference.
In any case, I am unaware of any direct teachings of the Qur’an or the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) that direct us to adhere to any particular color of turban.
The above answer, it may be noted, is given purely from the perspective of Islam. Because of this reason, it does not stipulate the reasons or comments on the reasons that an individual may have for preferring one color or the other.
