If a man is a Muslim and his wife is a non-Muslim, can their children follow the wife’s religion?
In such a case, the children shall be free to follow the religion of their choice. No one – not even the parents – has a right to enforce his/her choice of religion on the child. When the father and the mother of a child ascribe to different religions, both of them have a right to bring up the child with the values and beliefs of his/her conviction and understanding. Nevertheless, it is ultimately the choice of the child, at the time of his mental maturity that shall decide about his or her set of beliefs.
