Regarding Imam Bukhari Being Married

March 12, 2005

Question

As-Salamu `Alaykum.

I read the following about Imam Bukhari. al-Bukhari, did indeed get married. However, he did not have any male children, as mentioned by al-Hakim in Ma`rifah `Ulm al-Hadith. I wonder how authentic is this source.

Jazzakallah khairun

Answer

It is generally held that the great scholar of Hadith did not marry. It would be best if you can kindly provide a complete reference of Al-Hakim’s statement. I may then be able to comment on it.

Fond regards,
