Spiritual Invisible Powers of Qur’anic Verses

January 27, 2003

Question

It is a common belief that various Qur’anic sentences and individual words entail in them spiritual powers and characteristics that can counteract bad effects of magic or influence of Jinn etc and can help solve the worldly desires of the peoples.

Please comment.

Answer

Irrespective of whether or not the stated belief is correct, it is a fact that the Prophet (pbuh) has neither pointed such effects of Qur’anic words and sentences nor has he expressly promoted the stated belief.

In view of this clarification, it should be clear that the stated belief – irrespective of whether or not it is correct – is not a part of the corpus of Islam.

I hope this helps.
