Aymeric Caron promises national mobilization against a ban on the veil

MP Aymeric Caron reacted on Twitter to the possibility of a ban on the veil for Muslim women defended by the National Rally. “It will never happen,” he says. He explains that if the RN nevertheless tried to impose such a measure, “a vast protest movement” would be organized throughout the country. Aymeric Caron even suggests calling on all citizens to wear a veil in the street, “every day”, as a sign of solidarity with Muslim women. For the MP, such mobilization would make this measure “totally inapplicable”.

After having been one of the most constant and courageous political voices to denounce the genocide in Gaza, Aymeric Caron remains faithful to his commitments. Even today, he chooses to defend fundamental freedoms when they are threatened, including when it concerns the Muslims of France. A position which honors the republican principles of freedom, equality and refusal of discrimination.

This position comes as the question of wearing the veil continues to occupy an important place in the French political debate. Several leaders of the National Rally have for several years defended the idea of ​​further limiting its wearing in public spaces. By calling for a mobilization that goes beyond the Muslim community alone, Aymeric Caron wants to place this question in the field of the defense of public freedoms and the refusal of discrimination targeting a part of the population. His call to symbolically wear the veil as a sign of solidarity also aims to make a possible ban very difficult to apply in practice.
