New York: the halal food festival comes to Manhattan
The New York festival dedicated to halal cuisine returns Saturday November 7 for a third edition. For the first time, the event is taking place in Manhattan, on Astor Place, between Broadway and Lafayette Street.
Organized by MuslimFoodies, it will bring together more than thirty exhibitors, with a large place given to catering. Open to all, the festival invites you to discover world cuisines respecting Muslim dietary regulations.
On the menu: Senegalese specialties from Joloff Restaurant, grilled meats from Holy Smoke Halal or even Egyptian cuisine from Lollipchops. Chaat Dog will offer its hot dogs with South Asian flavors. Enough to move from one culinary tradition to another throughout the stands.
Sweet lovers can try crepes from Cuddle Crepes, fried ice creams from Sam’s Fried Ice Cream and cookies from Shompa’s Goods. A program which reminds us that halal cuisine is not limited to a single repertoire, but also finds its place in street food and desserts.
Between two tastings, a space hosted by Ludo Ghar will welcome visitors around board games, notably ludo, carrom and backgammon. An opportunity to extend the meeting with family or friends.
The festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Entrance is free. It’s best to arrive early to take advantage of the stands before the queues get long.
