Alpes-Maritimes: a sixty-year-old violently attacked, shouting “Dirty Arab, I will cut you into pieces and send you to Jerusalem!” »

To the chilling cries of “Dirty Arab, I will cut you into pieces and send you to Jerusalem,” the savage racist attack of which a sixty-year-old of North African origin was the victim, Saturday October 14, in Cannet, in the Alpes-Maritimes, did not make the shocking headlines of the newspapers, nor the sensationalist opening of the news…

In a hardly surprising media blackout, this attack of great violence, both physical and verbal, committed by two individuals, one of whom was wearing a yarmulke, was included in the section of crushed dogs. It must be said that it clearly resembles an act of anti-Arab revenge on national territory, against the backdrop of Israel’s bloody reprisals in Gaza.

The victim’s lawyer, Maître Sefen Guez Guez, recounted the facts which happened in broad daylight, moreover under the eyes of several witnesses, on the X platform: “ This sixty-year-old was the victim of serious violence, having been beaten with fists and a hammer carried by one of the attackers.s “, he clarified, adding: “ the attackers made racist remarks while shouting “Dirty Arab, I will cut you into pieces and send you to Jerusalem “. And to continue: “ He was first insulted and threatened with death in French, then in Arabic, a language that the two attackers, obviously of Jewish origin, mastered. ».

Agents from the Anti-Criminality Brigade (BAC), who were nearby, arrested one of the attackers, the second having fled in a white van.

In his press release, Me Sefen Guez Guez emphasizes that the victim, who filed a complaint for “ blatantly racist attack », spent nearly ten hours in hospital for medical examinations. A forensic doctor noted his injuries.

While recalling that “in France, racism is not an opinion, it is a crime, regardless of the ethnic origin of the perpetrators of reprehensible behavior”, he believes that this attack occurs in a particularly tense national and international context, and calls on the judicial authorities to react firmly against the attackers of this vulnerable person.

Furthermore, Me Guez indicated that “ the family of this man requests that all means be used to apprehend the second attacker who fled, especially since the victim managed to take a photo of this individual before his escape “.
