Brazilian President Lula wears Palestinian keffiyeh during official ceremony

The Ambassador of Palestine to Brazil, Marwan Jibrilpresented his credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaduring an official ceremony in Brasília. On this occasion, the Brazilian president received and wore the Palestinian keffiyeh. This political and diplomatic gesture is fully in line with Brazil’s official position in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Brazilian government has in fact publicly denounced the ongoing genocide in Gazaholding the Israeli state responsible for crimes committed against the Palestinian civilian population. Brazil called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to massacres, the protection of civilians and strict respect for international humanitarian law.

By taking this constant position, both in speeches and in symbolic acts, Brazil reaffirms its commitment to international justice, the right of peoples to self-determination and a peace based on respect for the law.
