Cain & Abel Contradiction

August 28, 2011

Question

The first murder occurred between Ha bee l and Kabeel: the first siblings. Habeel spoke to Kabeel that Allah Almighty will accept the offering only from person having “takwa” But any kind of dilect developed in this world millions of years after the creation of man.Can you explain the contradiction?

Answer

If I were to tell you a story in English and say, “…a man one day said that the only way to God is through piety…” then I would use the language I am communicating with you to quote the conversations of the people in the story. If I do not use a common language that you understand then you would not know what I am saying. Thus, it only makes sense that the Qur’an would retell the details of an incident in the Arabic language since the people that originally received its message were Arabs who spoke Arabic. So there is no contradiction. It was merely recounting a story in the language of its addressees.Lastly, neither the Qur’an nor science claims dialects or modern man existed for millions of years.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
