CNews pours out its bile after the election of New York’s first Muslim mayor

Barely had Zoran Mamdani been elected, the first Muslim mayor of New York, than CNews jumped at the opportunity to spit its usual venom. In an editorial worthy of an Islamophobic commercial café, the far-right channel depicts the elected official as a danger: Muslim, pro-Palestinian, “socialist”, in short, everything that makes the editorial staff tremble.

Under the guise of political analysis, CNews unfolds its obsessions: the “community vote”, “resentful sores” and “violent youth”. A well-established way of disguising racism in sociological reflection. Rather than saluting a historic democratic victory, the channel prefers to replay its act of fear, contempt and confusion. The election of Mamdani, for CNews, is less a political fact than another pretext to feed its business: Islamophobia, identity anxiety and hatred of progress.
