Eid El-Fitr 1446h-Sunday March 30, 2025
According to astronomical data, the conjunction of the new moon marking the start of the month of Chawwal 1446h will occur on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 11:58 am (Paris time). In accordance with the observation criteria adopted by the CFCM since 2013, the visibility of the lunar crescent will be possible this same evening in a large part of North America.
Consequently, the CFCM announces that Sunday March 30, 2025 will correspond to the day of Eid El-Fitr 1446h.
On this occasion, the CFCM sends its most sincere wishes of peace, happiness and prosperity to all Muslims in France and around the world.
Zakat El-Fitr 2025
The amount of the Zakat El-Fitr, a compulsory alms to be paid at the end of the month of Ramadan by any Muslim family, is assessed this year to:
9 euros per person
However, estimates between 7 and 12 euros are also considered legitimate, depending on legal opinions and retained reference foodstuffs (wheat, rice, dates, etc.).
Regarding the Fidya (compensatory alms for people unable to fast), its amount also varies according to legal schools: it can correspond to a quarter, half or the entire Zakat El-Fitr. It is thus estimated between 2 and 12 euros.
These evaluation differences reflect the diversity of legal interpretations as well as the variability in food prices according to the places and the products chosen. It is up to everyone to pay an amount in accordance with their situation and the religious opinion to which they usually refer.
Payment methods
The Zakat El-Fitr must be paid to people in need, without distinction of religion. It is recommended to favor beneficiaries living nearby, but a sending abroad remains possible if necessary.
It can be acquitted from the start of the month of Ramadan and until Eid prayer. Its distribution can be entrusted to a third party or to a charity.
This alms is exclusively intended for the poor. It can in no case be used to finance a mosque or another structure. Mosques wishing to collect donations for their own operation must point out clearly and use separate boxes in order to avoid any confusion.
