Eric Cantona receives a t-shirt showing him delivering his famous kick… to Netanyahu

While in Derry, Northern Ireland, for his show “Eric The King Cantona”, the former Manchester United striker received a unique gift to say the least. Chris Ferry, graphic designer and local boutique owner Ferry Clevergave him a t-shirt featuring the illustration of his famous “kung-fu kick” – but, this time, the victim is none other than Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. On social networks, the designer said he was “delighted” to meet the Mancunian legend and to have been able to offer him this creation designed “in solidarity with Palestine”. Cantona, known for his outspokenness and his commitment to the Palestinian question, would have welcomed the present with enthusiasm.
The diverted image, already displayed in the store window, had sparked numerous reactions online, between humor, political support and predictable criticism. For Ferry, this gesture is above all an artistic and militant act, undertaken in a context where Cantona remains one of the most vocal cultural figures in favor of Palestinian rights. The former French international has also spoken publicly several times to denounce Israeli policy and demand the exclusion of Israel from international competitions, criticizing FIFA and UEFA for their “double standards” since the rapid exclusion of Russia in 2022.
