European Union warns of Israeli attack on Rafah city

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Spaniard Josep Borrell, warned against the Israeli attack on the city of Rafah, stressing that pressure must continue on Israel to prevent attacks on civilians.

During a press conference held in Brussels on Monday February 12, the head of European diplomacy insisted: “People in Gaza are continually bombarded and cannot escape, the losses among civilians inside the strip are unbearable.”

And to add, indignant at the threats recently made by Netanyahu, the butcher of Gaza, against the town of Rafah, where tents and other makeshift shelters now stretch as far as the eye can see: “Launching a military operation in Rafah would prevent the arrival of humanitarian aid.”

With the insolent contempt that characterizes the Israeli apartheid state, its immoral army, ignoring this European warning shot, simply torpedoed it, violently striking various areas of Rafah. Strikes which caused the death of more than 100 Palestinians and injured hundreds, including children and women.

The city of Rafah has become a refuge for displaced people from the Gaza Strip and is home to more than one and a half million Palestinians, including one million and three hundred thousand displaced from other governorates.

Rafah: the unbearable images of the endless genocidal massacre of Palestinians in Gaza, who have nowhere to take refuge.
