Filmmaker Michael Moore supports Palestinian film “From Ground Zero” in Oscar nomination

Filmmaker Michael Moore has just been named executive producer of “From Ground Zero,” the film representing Palestine in the race for the 2024 Oscars. The theatrical release is scheduled for January 3 by Watermelon Pictures. The project, preselected in the best international film category, brings together 22 short films made by Palestinian filmmakers during the current conflict in Gaza. “These Palestinian filmmakers have accomplished a cinematic miracle,” Moore said. “They managed to create a brilliant work in a context that organizations like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch now describe as genocide.“The participation of the Oscar-winning director in this collective project, which documents the daily reality in Gaza, could give a significant spotlight to this Palestinian production in the race for the Oscars.
