Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur, reappears the CRIF and French parliamentarians after accusations of anti -Semitism
Despite a lobbying of 43 French deputies, Francesca Albanese was maintained on April 1 as UN special rapporteur in the Palestinian territories. In an interview at Off Investigation She strongly reacted to the charges of anti -Semitism formulated against her, especially in France. “Forty French parliamentarians have sought to defame me and continue to insult me. They should be ashamed, “she said. She claims to know these elected officials personally, adding that she refuses to “waste time with those who despise (her) profession ».
Albanese specifies that an investigation was carried out following these accusations: “It was concluded that I am not anti -Semitic. What I do is firmly criticized a state – the state of Israel – which maintains illegal occupation, practices apartheid and, today, commits acts of genocide before the eyes of the international community. »» She insists on the distinction between anti -Semitism and political criticism: “We must not confuse anti -Semitism with a legitimate criticism of violations of international law. »»
Asked about the possible pressures that she could feel, in particular due to the positions of organizations such as CRIF in France, Francesca Albanese declares : “The only pressure I feel, it comes from people who die every day: journalists, doctors, artists, women, men, children – killed only because they are Palestinians. »» For the attention of the CRIF, she launches: “Are you not ashamed to defame someone who denounces this? Are you not ashamed? »»
