Gaza: Egypt summons an Arab Emergency Summit in the face of Trump’s words
On February 27, Cairo will host an Arab emergency summit in the face of “serious developments” concerning the Palestinian cause, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday.
This diplomatic initiative intervenes in direct reaction to the abject project of Donald Trump to transform Gaza into “Riviera du Middle East” under American control, after having expelled the Palestinian population to Egypt and Jordan. The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, multiplied contacts on Friday with his Jordanian, Saudi and Emirati counterparts to consolidate the regional opposition with any forced displacement of the Palestinians. Palestine, which formally requested the holding of this summit, will be supported by Bahrain, current president of the Arab League.
Arab countries unanimously reject this American proposal, reaffirming their attachment to the two -state solution with an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. This Egyptian diplomatic mobilization illustrates the growing concern of the Arab countries in the face of what appears as an attempted ethnic cleaning disguised as an economic development project.
