Gaza: “Horror visions that we are not used to meeting, even in the hardest conflicts” – an MSF coordinator testifies

Jean-Guy Vataux, emergency coordinator of doctors Without Borders, was the guest of France 24 this Saturday. Thirty years of humanitarian missions through the worst conflicts of the globe had not prepared him for hell he discovers today in Gaza. His observation is relentless: “I have been doing this job for 30 years through conflicts, around the world, but nothing had prepared me for what I see here,” he said. He returned upset from the Al-Shifa hospital, the largest in Palestine, now half destroyed, the rest overwhelmed by injured. “They come either from distribution sites or sites that the Israeli army has bombed,” he said. “They are in a deplorable state. Many are very young.” “I got out of it with my heart returned. These are horror visions that we are not used to meeting, even in the hardest conflicts,” he testifies, deeply marked. In her words, no detour: Gaza experiences a methodically orchestrated horror. The strikes target civilians, hospitals, refueling points. Israel waged a war of total extermination, without rule, without humanity.
