Gaza: Hourish tribute to donkeys, survival companions under the bombs

In the midst of war, in the heart of a genocide which takes place before the eyes of the world, the Gazaouis wanted to pay tribute to their donkeys. These distress companions, which have become essential to transport food, injured or children, were welcomed as everyday heroes. In a band of Gaza deprived of everything – electricity, fuel, roads – these animals are today the last concrete supports of an abandoned people. Their role goes beyond simple utility: they are the symbols of a survival torn day after day, meter per meter. “Jesus would have entered Jerusalem on a donkey’s back … It is a long tradition in Palestine,” said Palestinian ambassador Abdal Karim Ewaida on X. Before denouncing, with a lucid bitterness: “If a donkey can help the Gazaouis, imagine what the great powers could do if they had the courage. »»

But this courage is sorely lacking. To the large Western capitals stuck in their hypocrisy, as with a number of Arab, silent, accomplices or aligned regimes. Indifference is shared, cowardice too. Meanwhile, in Gaza, it is the donkeys that advance where powerful men look away.
