Gaza: the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation folds after transforming aid into a death trap for a starving population

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), supported by Israel and the United States, announced the end of its mission in Gaza. Officially created to “feed” a starving population, the organization will have left behind only a reduced, opaque and profoundly dangerous system: four distribution centers for more than two million people, instead of the 400 previously managed by the UN.

On the ground, this “aid” turned into carnage. Hundreds of starving Palestinians have been shot dead by Israeli fire while simply trying to access food in these hunger lines. The GHF, installed at the heart of this system, became the operational arm of a mechanism where access to bread was achieved through fear, violence and death. For many in Gaza, these centers were not places of relief, but windows of death.

Added to this was a stunning revelation: in September, the BBC demonstrated that the security of several sites had been entrusted to members of an openly Islamophobic American gang, the Infidels Motorcycle Clubemployed by the company UG Solutions. An additional humiliation for a hungry population, watched and threatened by militias from the other side of the world.

While Washington congratulates the GHF, Hamas – like many Palestinian and international voices – is demanding accountability. Because behind the triumphant press releases, the reality is brutal: the GHF participated in a system which transformed hunger into a weapon, and humanitarian aid into a death trap. Closing it doesn’t wash anything. She leaves behind a field of human ruins – and a demand for truth and justice.
