In London, King Charles III and Queen Camilla prepare packages for Ramadan
King Charles III and Queen Camilla went to the Darjeeling Express restaurant in London to participate in the preparations for Ramadan. The royal couple notably helped to pack dates and Biryani boxes intended to be distributed during the sacred month.
Welcomed by the British Chief British-Indian Asma Khan, owner of the establishment, the king and the queen joined the entirely female team of the kitchen to condition packages which will be distributed in local hospitals for the breakdown of the fast.
“I did not expect the king to be so fast. You wrap the dates faster than I can seal them! ”, Aleaned Asma Khan, causing the laughs of the monarch. The royal couple also exchanged with a group of Muslim women present for the occasion.
The dates, traditionally consumed to break the fast at sunset during Ramadan, will be distributed to patients and hospital staff. This charitable action extends the historical commitment of Darjeeling Express to local communities. This royal visit illustrates the recognition of the importance of Ramadan and highlights the diversity and creativity of Muslim women in the United Kingdom.
