Interruption of the Vuelta: a lesson in dignity for the whole world

The number three of the Spanish government praised the “lesson given to the world” by the pro-Palestinian demonstrators who interrupted, Sunday, September 14, the last stage of the Vuelta to denounce the participation of an Israeli team. More than 100,000 people disrupted the arrival of the great cycling race in Madrid.

“The Spanish company does not tolerate that the genocide in Gaza is trivialized during sporting or cultural events,” said the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, a figure of the Sumar left platform, on social networks. “Our society is an example of dignity,” she added, welcoming massive mobilization.

On Instagram, Yolanda Díaz has reaffirmed that this mobilization constitutes “a lesson given to the whole world”, believing that Israel cannot participate in any event as long as it pursues a genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The Minister of Public Administration, óscar López, abounded in this direction, directly responding to the head of the opposition who had described the demonstration of “international shame”.
“The fact that the Madrilenians demonstrate against the genocide does not harm the image of Spain. On the contrary. (…) I’m sorry for the Vuelta, but I am even more so for the hundreds of thousands of massacred Palestinians, “he said.
