Israel invoke Hamas to be able to suppress the Sumud flotilla

According to I24News, the Israeli Foreign Affairs has published documents found in Gaza which it presents as proof of the involvement of Hamas in the Sumud flotilla. One of them would be a letter signed by Ismaïl Haniyeh in 2021, another a list of PCPA officials (Conference of Palestinians from abroad), including Zaher Birawi, a historic figure of the flotilles, and Saif Abu Kashk, linked to a screen company in Spain. Israel says that these structures serve as a facade to secretly control ships.

In reality, the Sumud flotilla remains a citizen and humanitarian initiative to break the blockade imposed on more than two million Gazaouis. The argument of Hamas appears above all as a pretext for repressing a flotilla which approaches the Palestinian coasts and delegated international solidarity. By constantly waving the scarecrow of Hamas, Israel continues a proven strategy: criminalizing any solidarity action with Gaza in order to divert the attention of the essential, namely the legality and legitimacy of civil resistance in the face of an illegal seat with regard to international law. Behind the accusation of “terrorism”, it is the desire to stifle any international mobilization in favor of the Palestinians who are reflected.
