Marriage During Menstruation

April 2, 2011

Question

Salam

If a woman is in her menstrual cycle (period) can she get married? Please tell me if there is any difference if the marriage is to take place inside a mosque OR outside of a Mosque (i.e. in a hotel or house).

Jazakhallah khair

Answer

Wa Alaykumu Salam

A woman can indeed get married and go through all the ceremonial procedures while she is experiencing her menstrual cycle. There is no difference where the event takes place. The menstrual cycle only impedes a woman from formal prayers and Hajj due to the discharge.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
