Morocco: Rabat: New massive mobilization for Gaza and against standardization with Israel

For the second consecutive week, thousands of Moroccans paraded Sunday April 13 in the streets of Rabat for the genocide in Gaza and reject the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel.

Despite a rainy weather, the mobilization brought together demonstrators from all over the country, gathered in the morning in Place Bab El-Had, in the heart of the capital. Drapes of Keffiehs and brandishing Palestinian and Moroccan flags, they chanted slogans of support for the Palestinian resistance and condemned what they describe as genocide in Gaza. The march, organized by the national action group for Palestine, followed Mohamed V avenue in the direction of Parliament before ending in Bab Rouah. The organizers presented this action as “a cry of the nation against the extermination of the Palestinian people”.

Many political parties, unions, student associations and civil society organizations have joined mobilization, including the Justice and Development Party, the Federation of the Democratic Left, the Moroccan Observatory against Standardization or the National Labor Union in Morocco. Among the slogans heard: “All united for Gaza”, “Resistance is a right, occupation is a crime”, “the people demand the end of normalization”but also virulent criticisms of American foreign policy.

Some demonstrators wore the portraits of Palestinian figures like Ahmed Yassine, Yasser Arafat or Ismaïl Haniyeh, as well as Moroccan personalities who publicly expressed their support for the Palestinian cause.
