Nice: the IQRA bookstore reopens its doors. The administrative court rejected the prefectural decision to close it
At the heart of a bitter legal standoff which has just turned in his favor, after having caused ink to flow in Nice, the azure stronghold of Christian Estrosi, the pro-Israeli mayor to the point of sinking into odious dehumanization of the martyred population of Gaza, IQRA, the aptly named Muslim bookstore, reopened its doors on Wednesday.
Suspected of “fundamentalism” and under a prefectural closure order, the curtain of this small business, which until then had not experienced the crisis, had to remain lowered for three months. Three long months which could have been fatal to him, as well as to his two employees, leading to his bankruptcy.
But that was without taking into account the disapproval of the administrative court, which ruled that this closure “ disproportionate and excessive ”, and immediately suspended the decision. According to the summary judge, the prefect's order on the closure of the IQRA Muslim bookstore “ p“a serious attack on the freedom to undertake”. The court also ruled that the bookstore is threatened with bankruptcy in the event of closure.
The prefect of Alpes-Maritimes was quick to react, announcing that he would appeal. He persists in denouncing “thethe presence in this bookstore of an illegal video protection device since 2015 ”, while accusing the store of selling “ hate books targeting homosexuals and women in their very existence ” And ” who indoctrinate minors in a busy neighborhood “.
According to France Bleu Azur, the establishment has since removed the cameras and books in question. In a press release signed by its lawyer, the bookstore strongly deplores being “unjustly smeared”.
