Omar Asloumi, spokesperson for Urgence Palestine placed in police custody for “apology of terrorism”

Omar Alsoumi, Palestinian in exile and spokesperson for the Urgence Palestine collective, was taken into police custody on Wednesday November 5 at the Meaux police station for “apology of terrorism”. According to the collective, the police searched his home at 6 a.m., while his wife and children were present. In a press release, Urgence Palestine denounces “repressive harassment against Palestinian voices”, recalling that Omar Alsoumi has suffered for more than six months a freezing of his assets, an administrative measure which “puts his family in a precarious situation”. The collective calls for an end to intimidation targeting activists engaged in the defense of the Palestinian people. On X (formerly Twitter), LFI MP Thomas Portes reacted: “We must put an end to the criminalization of voices that support Palestine! Support for Omar Alsoumi. Solidarity with all those mobilizing against the genocide in Gaza and colonization in the West Bank. »
