Question
My question is a little strange. Not sure if such an issue has been addressed before. The thing is that my private (penis) is a little small in size i.e. 4 inches when erect. I do not have any erectile dysfunction or ejaculatory problem. As I am going to be married soon in a few months time, my concern is that will my wife not be able to get the sexual satisfaction that she expects from her husband due to this.
Secondly there are a lot of penile treatments being advertised in the market. I have never ever consulted a doctor to check their effectiveness and safety but if the doctor says it is fine and safe then can such a treatment be permissible by the shariah. I hope my question will be answered according to the laws of Islam and I apologise if my question has been of offensive nature to any body.
Thanking you. Jazakallah Khair
Answer
There are aspects of the Shari’ah that discourages and even forbids making changes to one’s natural make up; none such as having penile enhancement. The issue you have asked about really deals with self-esteem and the relationship between the partners. Though beyond the scope of our expertise the only suggestion we may give in this regard is for you to learn as much as you can, via any decent means, to please your wife. This form of education is something you should consider since merely having a body part does not mean that you will be able to please your wife. The love and happiness you bring to your wife will fuel much more passion than having more of what you do not know how to utilize. It would be no good. Nevertheless, I urge you to research deeply both subjects; penile enlargement and better knowledge of sexual pleasure. Also you may find that the ads you have been exposed to are far from any realistic accomplishments that they promise. Please consider all the dangers and how you will be committing yourself for a lifetime. You have mentioned that you are fully functional and nothing is wrong with you, so you need to ask yourself whether this would really be worth it. Consider the saying that goes something like, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”
I hope I have clarified the issue.
God knows best.
