Putin’s strong gesture in Chechnya: he kisses the Koran, a pure jewel, which he offered to the Mosque of the Prophet Issa

As a distinguished guest at the inauguration of the sumptuous Mosque of the Prophet Issa (Mosque of Jesus), which stands proudly in the heart of Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, after four years of work, Vladimir Putin will not only have marked this great unifying event with his eminently political presence.

Surrounded by Ramzan Kadyrov, the very grateful Chechen president, and Mufti Salah Mezhiev, by Amrudi Adil Gereev, advisor for the construction of places of worship, and Mohammad Kadyrov, mayor of Grozny, the master of the Kremlin, also distinguished himself with a strong, highly symbolic gesture, inside a majestic beacon of Islam, itself erected as a symbol.

Indeed, in this unique sacred space, emblematic of harmonious religious coexistence and, more particularly, of the spirit of tolerance that animates the Muslims of the immense Russian Federation, President Putin kissed a magnificent copy of the noble Quran. A pure jewel, adorned with precious stones, which he offered to the Issa Mosque.

While emphasizing how close Christians and Muslims are spiritually and ethically, the unbeatable leader of the world’s largest territory accomplished a remarkable act, which consolidated the proximity with his staunch ally whom he had not seen since 2011: President Kadyrov.

The latter immediately thanked him warmly for his position in favor of religious feelings, sacred books and the preservation of family values. And it is quite naturally on Telegram that he did it.

Telegram, the messaging application known to be the most secure, of which we learned with shock the arrest in Paris, Saturday evening, on the tarmac of Le Bourget airport, of its founder: the Franco-Russian billionaire Pavel Durov, accused of all the evils (and much worse) by France, the country of Voltaire and the sacrosanct freedom of expression…

An arrest that triggered an outcry in Russia and across the Atlantic. Elon Musk, boss of X, wrote the word ” Freedom ” on his social network, concluding with an eloquent question mark.

Exiled in Russia, Edward Snowden immediately reacted by castigating ” The arrest of Pavel Durov is an attack on the basis of human rights to communication. I am surprised and deeply saddened that Emmanuel Macron has stooped to the point of taking hostages in order to gain access to private communications. This demeans not only France, but the entire world.

For his part, Leonid Volkov, collaborator of the opponent of the Russian power Alexei Navalnywho died in custody in early 2024, was also outraged by the detention of Pavel Durov, calling it ” politically and humanly unacceptable.”
