Reliance on God

September 27, 2011

Question

How Can I increase my tawakkul or how can I make my tawakkul powerful to ALLAH and our Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam

Answer

Tawakkul is reliance on God. There is no method or practice to it. In fact, Tawakkul strengthens as one’s conviction increases. If the spiritual self is nourished then the physical self will be replenished. Our daily life should be a step closer to the Almighty and as we get closer we begin to realize that we can free ourselves from some things and wholly depend on Him. If you want to strengthen your faith then prayer and righteous behavior is the very food and water for the soul. Remembering God and recognizing His presence in our existence and thanking Him for the smallest things that we tend to take for granted helps one’s faith. It is not an easy pursuit. In fact, a person should keep in mind that faith waxes and wanes. In the end, those who know recognize they are going through a period of low faith will come out of it better because they realized that it would be temporary.

As an aside, I would like to clarify that in Islam there is no such thing as Tawakul on the Prophet (pbuh).

In the end, faith is our relationship with the Almighty. Goodness, kindness and a deep connection with your spiritual self will lead to the path you are seeking, God willing.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
