The Catholic priest of Gaza, Gabriel Romanelli: “There continue to be bombings, destruction, deaths”

The Catholic priest of Gaza, Gabriel Romanelli, described a still “terrible” situation in the Palestinian enclave, despite the continuation of the truce. “Even if the truce, thank God, continues, they have stopped the heavy bombings, but there still continue to be bombings, destruction, deaths,” he declared. The priest also underlines the extreme precariousness of living conditions: “The smallest thing in daily life is very hard, even finding electricity or water”. “The days have been very difficult and we are trying to do our best in the place we are in,” he added.

Editor’s note: This relative calm cannot mask the reality of an ongoing genocide: Despite the truce, the strikes, the destruction and the deprivations inflicted on an already bloodless population bear witness to a strategy carried out without pity and without any humanity, where civilians continue to pay the heaviest price. From Gaza to the West Bank, from Lebanon to theIranthis war spreads and engulfs the entire region, causing deaths, massive displacements of populations and large-scale destruction. No significant sanctions are taken against Israel, which sows chaos, kills, displaces, expropriates and occupies territories with complete impunity.
