The Council for American-Islamic Relations castigates Elon Musk for its “hateful” remarks towards Muslim associations

The American-Islamic Relations Council (CAIR) reacted strongly to the recent statements of Elon Musk on American Muslim organizations. The billionaire is accused of fueling Islamophobia after having relayed allegations to qualify several Muslim charitable associations as “terrorist” organizations.

The boss of Tesla notably shared unaccomposed information suggesting that the American Agency for International Development (USAID), the main government body responsible for humanitarian aid abroad, would have paid more than $ 164 million to “ Organizations related to terrorism ”, citing in particular the American Near East Refugee Aid and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

“These foundation accusations endanger innocent lives”, said Nihad Awad, National Director of Cair, stressing that these organizations are legitimate structures that have already collaborated with the US government.

This new controversy comes as community tensions are intensifying in the United States. The CAIR recently reported a significant increase in discriminatory incident reports targeting the American Muslim community, notably since the start of the Gaza conflict. The Civil Rights Defense Organization has also pointed to Elon Musk’s “two -weight, two measurements”, recalling his silence on the billions of dollars in American military aid granted to Israel since October 2023.
