The historian Vincent Lemire: “It is official, the war to” eradicate Hamas “was only aimed at eradicating the Palestinian civilian population”

French historian Vincent Lemire, specialist in Jerusalem, said on Monday on network X (ex-owner) that the war waged by Israel against Hamas “Aims in reality to eradicate the Palestinian civilian population”. In a long message, he accuses the Israeli government of implementing a deliberate strategy of forced displacement of the Palestinians of Gaza, citing a series of public declarations since December 2023. Among them: the words of the Minister Shlomo Karhi on a “Voluntary emigration imposed”those of Bezalel Smotrich evoking a population reduced to 100,000 inhabitants, and the claims of Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu indicating wanting “Reduce the population of Gaza to its minimum”.

Vincent Lemire also reports the creation, on March 21, of a “Administration responsible for the voluntary transit of the inhabitants of Gaza”and recalls that in early April Netanyahu declared: “We are not hiding, it’s our plan”.

He underlines that no food has entered the Gaza Strip for two months, which, according to him, is a deliberate starving strategy aimed at preparing a massive exodus. It would be a question, he says, of the longest blockade imposed since October 7, 2023. He described this situation as “Deliberate and planned ethnic cleaning”, And sees it as a constitutive elements of a crime against humanity and a crime of genocide, based on the UN Final S/1994/674 report on the former Yugoslavia.

Alerting to a possible large -scale military operation announced for May 16, Lemire calls on Western governments to react immediately. “The future of Europe also goes through Gaza”, he writes, adding that “No one will be able to argue ignorance: everything is visible, documented and publicly assumed”. He concludes: “Thank you for disseminating this information”.
