The political scientist Ziad Majed denounces the “Trump plan” as a colonial staging.

Guest of the show 28 minutes On Arte, Lebanese political scientist Ziad Majed strongly criticized the “Trump plan”, which he describes as “a colonial spectacle”. According to him, Western officials have taken the right to decide the fate of Palestine by completely dismissing international law and the United Nations. He recalled that Tony Blair, associated with this initiative, himself embodies the British colonial heritage and the wars carried out in violation of international law.

Ziad Majed’s words resonate with particular violence in the current context. While Gaza undergoes a genocide recognized and documented by international bodies, the great powers continue to ignore international law and treat Palestine as a simple variable of adjustment of their interests. Talking about “colonial spectacle” is not a rhetorical formula: it is the description of a reality where the heirs of the ancient colonial powers redraw, once again, the destiny of a people without giving them the slightest voice. This obscene staging only accompanies, or even legitimize, the in progress annihilation in Gaza.
