Thomas Portes: “The racist crime of Hichem Miraoui was directly inspired by the ideas of the National Rally”
During a press conference held in the National Assembly (see video below), Thomas Portes, deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis (3rd district), elected from the group La France Insoumise-New Popular Front, firmly denounced “The racist climate that reigns in the country”which he considers fueled by certain political leaders, following the assassination of Hichem Miraoui.
“The national anti -terrorist prosecution – and we congratulate it – was seized following the murder of Hichem Miraoui”said the elected official, qualifying this act as “terrorist”. He presented his condolences to the victim’s family, while registering this crime in a series of recent racist violence.
Thomas Portes has listed several facts that have occurred in recent weeks: shots against a Franco-Magrébine association in Val-de-Mortau (March 8), death threats against a Muslim bus driver in Grenoble (March 13), racist assaults, profanations of places of worship and racist murders, to the “abominable murder” of Miraoui this weekend.
“All of this is part of a political context where managers create this climate, fuel atmosphere racism”, He accused, primarily targeting Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau. He denounced an uninhibited public speech relayed according to him by the channels of the Bolloré group and certain elected officials of the far right.
The elected official insisted on the profile of the alleged murderer: “This man broadcast before and after his assassination of racist videos. He retweeted Philippe Vardon, Gilbert Collard, Racheline … The assassination of this weekend was directly inspired by the ideas of the National Rally.”
Faced with this situation, Thomas Portes announced the filing of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into far -right groups: “Today we have people who, in the country, take action. ” He also mentioned the murder of Djamel Bendjaballah, “Crushed three times in front of his 10 -year -old daughter by an far -right activist member of the French Patriots, in an icing silence of political power.”
“Bruno Retailleau is an incendiary who pretends to protest in racism while he feeds him every day. As long as he is at the head of the Interior Ministry, people will be in danger in this country”, concluded Thomas Portes.
