United Kingdom: the double-starred chief Aktar Islam will sign the Cateys menu 2025, the “Hotel Oscars”
Renowned as the “Hotel Oscars” in the United Kingdom, the Cateys reward excellence each year in the catering, hotel and services sectors. Organized by The Catererthe 2025 edition will be held on July 7 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London. More than 1,000 guests in the sector are expected.
On this occasion, chef Aktar Islam, head of the double -starred restaurant Opheem in Birmingham, will develop a menu inspired by the culinary heritage of India. “The menu will be an explosion of flavors,” he promises, combining seasonal ingredients and influences from southern and northern India. The dessert will honor the strawberry, its favorite summer fruit.
Accompanied by Patrick O’Sullivan, executive chief of Park Lane, Islam will take up the challenge of serving a thousand guests. Winner of the Prix for Best Chef at the Cateys 2024, he continues to mark British gastronomy by his audacity and his creativity. This invitation to sign the Cateys menu testifies to a turning point in the recognition of so -called “ethnic” kitchens at the top of British high gastronomy. By choosing Aktar Islam, the organizers salute not only its technical excellence, but also its ability to make India’s culinary inheritances dialogue with the contemporary requirement of large tables. A strong symbolic recognition for an increasingly mixed British culinary scene.
