USA: Pete Hegseth, appointed Secretary of Defense, allegedly shouted “kill all Muslims” while drunk

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the leading civil rights organization for Muslims in the United States, has renewed its call for the Senate to reject the nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. This position comes after revelations claiming that in 2015, Hegseth repeatedly shouted “kill all muslims“in a way”violent and under the influence of alcohol“.

CAIR had already expressed its opposition to this appointment, citing Mr. Hegseth’s calls for the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, his support for war crimes, as well as his statements deemed defamatory towards Muslims and Islam.

Nihad Awad, national executive director of CAIR, said in a statement:
“Given his current positions and past actions, it is clear that Mr. Hegseth is completely inappropriate for the position of Secretary of Defense. Anyone who – even while intoxicated – calls for the extermination of members of a faith disqualifies himself for such a crucial role, which necessarily involves dealing with representatives of majority-Muslim nations. » CAIR also noted that Hegseth sports a tattoo with the inscription “Deus Vult”, a Latin expression meaning “God wills”, which was the rallying cry of the crusaders during the First Crusade.

In the coming weeks, the organization plans to advocate for members of the Senate to thoroughly vet and reject extremist nominees for leadership positions based on their public records and positions that indicate intolerance or extremism incompatible with the interests of the United States.
