Walk against Islamophobia: several thousand demonstrators at Place de la Bastille after the assassination of Aboubakar Cissé
Several thousand people gathered this Sunday afternoon Place de la Bastille in Paris, at the call of a large collective of organizations, to denounce Islamophobia and pay tribute to Aboubakar Cissé, murdered in a mosque. The demonstrators point to the responsibility of political figures like Gérald Darmanin, Bruno Retailleau and the extreme right in the trivialization of a climate of hatred targeting Muslims. In a joint declaration, the organizers claim that this act was “neither an accident nor a news item”, but the product of years of stigmatizing discourse and discriminatory policies. Among the first signatories of the appeal are: the March 21 march against racisms, Islamophobia and for the protection of children, the CCIE, generation hope, dignity and resistance, stop on state violence (Save), the Solidarity Marche, the Assembly of the neighborhoods, the Adama, CSP75, Diel, Palestine Emergency, the Defense Committee, the Defense Committee, Argenteuil Solidarité Palestine, Muslim perspectives, and young Reds.
