What Are the Two Barriers in Al Furqan 25:53?

April 19, 2011

Question

Why do some translations of this verse mention 2 barriers. As they mention a barrier, and a forbidding partition. How would this reference to two barriers affect the meaning of the verse, and which translation is more accurate? Can you please clarify inshallah

Answer

We are not aware of any translations that mention two different barriers. The verse should be understood as an emphasis of the barzakh (i.e. barrier) in the sense that it is a barrier with a limiting boundary. If seen in this light one can check other translations and ascertain which is most accurate.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
