Question
i have medical hall, my income is around 50,000. 20,000 is salaries and 30,000 for home expenditures. what will be the zakat for my income.
Answer
My understanding is that you own a medical centre and you make a revenue of 50,000 annually. Out of this you pay a total of 20,000 as salary to your staff and a total of 30,000 for the expenses of the centre.
Based on the above, then since you are using both capital and labour for your work, you need to pay 5% of your total income (that will be a sum of 2,500) as your Zakah in one year. I consider your total income to be a surrogate of the value of the service produced. You need to pay this amount as it occurs (e.g. monthly basis) to add up to 2,500 in one year.
If you are paying tax to the government then you can deduct the amount of tax from the above amount and only pay what will be left (if any).
If my understanding of your question is not correct then please correct me and I will revise my answer accordingly.
