The Qur’an says:
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and gave refuge on a height, a place of flocks and water – spring ( Al-Mu’minoon 23: 50)
Can you explain, that what were the circumstances behind that refuge, and which was that place?
The verse seems to be a reference to the place where God guided Miriam to go at the time of giving birth to Jesus (pbuh). The Qur’an has mentioned three qualities of this location: Firstly, that it was at a raised platform; Secondly, that it was a peaceful place; And thirdly, that there was spring gushing forth from it or near it. Although the Qur’an has not mentioned the name of this location, yet according to historical sources, it was Bethlehem (or Beit-Lahm).
It should be clear from the foregoing clarification that the circumstances, which led to this refuge, primarily entailed the conditions in which Jesus (pbuh) was born.
I hope this helps.
