A fake Bible verse by Tarantino cited by Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense of the United States

Pete Hegseth, the uneducated Secretary of Defense, gave a speech on the war against Iran at the Pentagon. But this official moment quickly turned awkward. Presented as an excerpt from the verse Ezekiel 25:17, the text he recited actually corresponds to Samuel L. Jackson’s famous tirade in pulp Fiction. A version invented and stylized by director Quentin Tarantino with no connection to the Bible. Beyond the blunder, confusing a movie line with a biblical word, what is striking about this former television host, fan of the Crusades, propelled to La Défense, is the dizziness of emptiness. A facade culture, made of cinematographic borrowings, and this arrogant lightness in a function which demands seriousness, rigor and accuracy. He speaks like one improvises a sketch, recycling quotes with the assurance of one who never doubts, asserting them as biblical truths without ever verifying the source. We understand in particular why his country, after having launched a delirious war against Iran and contributed to global instability, finds itself in an impasse.
