Saudi Arabia presents the results of Hajj 2026, marked by the increased use of artificial intelligence and the participation of 1.7 million pilgrims

Saudi Arabia took stock, on Sunday, of the Hajj 1447 AH, which brought together 1,707,301 pilgrims, including nearly 1.54 million from abroad. Saudi authorities welcomed the smooth running of the pilgrimage, saying that no epidemic had been recorded during this great religious mobilization. According to official figures, more than 2.5 million medical services were provided during the Hajj season, with several hundred surgical procedures carried out. Medical robots, drones for delivering medicines and connected devices intended to monitor the most fragile pilgrims were also used.
The kingdom highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in the organization of the pilgrimage. A crowd management platform, supported by some 5,000 cameras and several analysis algorithms, made it possible to monitor the movements of the faithful and streamline their circulation in holy places. Transport infrastructure has also been heavily strained. The Holy Places Metro has transported more than two million passengers, while improvements have been made to improve the comfort of pilgrims, particularly in the face of extreme heat.
At the end of the Hajj, nearly 1.9 million copies of the Koran translated into 80 languages were distributed to the faithful. Through this report, the Saudi authorities highlight the progress made in the logistical, health and technological management of one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
